RPA/ Experienced Health Physicist

To act as a Radiation Protection Adviser/ Experienced Health Physicist covering the day to day work demands in a radiological capacity. This will include monitoring people, plant and facilities. The individual may be required to perform some duties of the RPA and will be given appropriate instruction and/or training in order to do so.

Ongoing projects include the decontamination and decommissioning of plutonium contaminated buildings; land remediation; waste production; and the receipt and disposal of low level waste. The role will touch on some or all of these areas and will be varied. The individual will be pro-active and flexible and will look to improve and develop the radiological awareness of employees

You will have a flexible approach to your working hours and be prepared to work closely with the site RPA. In addition to the advisory role you will be expected to audit plant systems, service providers and support the development and implementation of emergency instructions. There is the possibility you will deliver training and assess practical HP performance. There will be a requirement for you to wear a range of personal protective equipment and respiratory protective equipment. Good communication skills and the ability to work with others are essential.

Further Information

In order to be able to carry out these duties you will need to be medically fit to become a classified radiation worker, if necessary. You must have experience in giving radiological advice on a nuclear licensed site and have significant experience in alpha decommissioning

RPA Certificate of Competence (not applicable for Health Physicists)GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics and English (or equivalent)Desirable QualificationsNEBOSH General CertificateScience Degree
